Birth: Aug. 10, 1926
Death: Apr. 7, 2009

Ruth Betty Aivazian, of Fresno, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends. She left this world surrounded by the sounds of laughter, stories and praise from those who loved her deeply.

Ruth was born in Sanger California to Louis and Mae Aivazian (Proodian). She grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from high school there. Instead of college she went to work as a secretary in Los Angeles until her marriage to Haig Aivazian Jr. of Fowler, Ca., on June 30, 1951.

Fresno became her new home afterwards where she excelled both as a homemaker and the secretary for the Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church. She was always active in her church and loved to sew, knit, cook, read, play bridge, travel and work in her garden. This lovely woman possessed a style and grace that enabled her to be loved by all. She was a hard person to be angry with, because she was never angry with anyone. That simply was not the kind of person that she was.

Sadly, she was preceded in death by both of her parents; and the absolute joy of her life, her daughter, Donna Kaprielian.

She is remembered lovingly by Haig, her husband of nearly 58 years; sister, Shirley Chuchian of Indian Wells; sons, Bryan and his wife Tammie of Casper, Wyoming, and Ron and his wife Annabelle of Fresno; and son-in-law Craig and his wife Laurie Kaprielian of Reedlev.

Ruth was always making snickerdoodle cookies and rocky road candy for the many grandchildren she adored, Grant and Reed Aivazian of Casper, Breanna Aivazian of Fresno, Bianca, Florencia and Angelica Kaprielian of Reedley, and Christian and Charlotte Loeffler of Reedley. She loved her sisters-in-law and their husbands, Barbara and Aram Garabedian, and the late Madeline and Mitchell Melikian, as if they were her true siblings. She will be deeply missed by them and her many nieces and nephews and their children.

Her "second family" was her bridge group and their husbands, who played, talked, laughed and loved together for 52 years. Hopefully, card playing will be allowed in heaven.

Visitation will be held at Yost and Webb Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Service will be held at the Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Daughters of Vartan service will also be held at the church.

She will be buried at Ararat Cemetery in Fresno.

Remembrances may be made to Saint Agnes Hospice in Fresno, or the Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church.
