He participant of the Great Patriotic War (the commander of a tank platoon of the 12th Guards Tank Brigade of the 4th Guards Tank Corps of the 59th Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front, Guard Lieutenant), Hero of the Soviet Union (1945), Major General (1981). In 1936 he graduated from the 8th grade. He worked as a fitter at the Gorky aircraft plant. In the Red Army in July 1942. In 1943 he graduated from the Gorky tank school. A veteran of the World War II in September 1943. As commander of a tank platoon of the 12th Guards Tank Brigade, Guards Lieutenant Ageev in January 1945 was given the task to take a ferry across the river east of the city Pshemsha Katowice (Poland), and hold it until the main forces. The first platoon ferried across the bridge and took up defensive positions. During the day the platoon repulsed seven counterattacks destroyed assault guns, 4 armored personnel carriers, 3 guns, 12 heavy machine guns and a lot of other military equipment and manpower. For courage and heroism in battle, Guards Lieutenant Nikolay Ivanovich Ageyev 10 April 1945 awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and medal "Gold Star" (number 4838).
