Outstanding Russian surgeon. He dedicated his life to the work of the medical faculty of the Imperial Moscow University, where he graduated in 1833. He took regular classes in anatomy and close relationship with an outstanding physiologist A.M. Filomafitskim. While working in the University in 1837-1840, he taught physiology at the Moscow Medical-Surgical Academy and engaged in practical medical practice as a surgeon. He worked in the 1st Gradskaya and Eye Hospital, in the first few years for free. In 1840, as young surgeon, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis on the current at the time the problem of lithotomy, and received a doctorate in medicine and surgery. He leaves his research in the field of physiology, which holds the Department of Physiology at the University of Moscow. The most important of these was the development and successful implementation of the world's first operation gastrostomy - imposing artificial gastric fistula. He was the first in Russia to substantiate the side (oblique) perineal access to the bladder; applied immobilization of the upper limb fracture of the olecranon special "shell dressings" using plaster, performed of thyrochondrotomy.
