Birth: Nov. 7, 1888
Death: Jul. 23, 1968

Russian pianist, composer and teacher. He was an eminent pianist and teacher. He taught at the Moscow conservatory from 1913 to 1923. He taught in Vienna from 1923 to 1938. He moved his family to England in 1938. He had visited the United States in 1908 and gave a solo performance at Carnegie Hall. The Julius Isserlis Scholarship was named after the composer at the request of the late Cecilia Helen Northcote who bequeathed money for this purpose in her will. The scholarship is currently open to players of all classical instruments.
