Memorial to Lieutenant Alexander, Rifle Brigade.

He was the eldest son of Lt Colonel Alexander. Lieutenant Boyd Alexander was an explorer and ornithologist. He was a member of an expedition which travelled across Africa from the Niger to the Nile exploring Lake Chad in 1904. He later returned to Africa and was killed in a dispute with locals near Nyeri, Central Kenya on 3rd April 1910. He was 37.
