Memorial to Captain Gosling, Rifle Brigade, who was wounded at Zand River port and was a member of the Boyd Alexander expedition (also known as the Alexander Gosling expedition) which surveyed lake Chad. He died at Niangaru on 13th June 1906 of Black Water fever and is buried at Niangaru, Upper Uele Province, D.R. Congo.
He is also commemorated in the name of two birds, Gosling's Apalis, Apalis Goslingi and Gosling's Rock Bunting, Emberiza Tahapisi Goslingi.
