Graveside services for Avis Egner, 78, of Newcastle were held Saturday, Oct. 2, in Reynolds Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Duvall of Newcastle officiating. Arrangements were under direction of Lunn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Egner was bom Dec. 14, 1925, in Grandfield, Okla., to the late Fred L. and Orpha (Pritchard) Carr. She died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Graham Regional Medical Center.

She and Carl McAdoo Egner were married July 19,1946, in Dallas. He died Dec. 9, 2002.

She was a graduate of Grandfield High School. She and her husband owned and operated Jan's Bakery in Dallas for 38 years.

They moved to Newcastle from Newalla, Okla., in January 2002. She was a Lutheran.

Survivors include a daughter Carylon Kessler and husband Tim of Newcastle; a granddaughter Lisa Crossland-Franklin and husband Jeff of Newcastle; two grandsons, Chris Thannisch of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Kerry Kessler of Fairchild, Wash.; and two great-grandchildren, Gunnar and Cole Thannisch of Oklahoma City, Okla.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherilyn Ruby Egner, on Feb. 21,2002 and by a brother, Tye Pritchard, in 1932.
