Col. Charles Ellis Barnett, Sr., 74, Retired Colonel in the United States Marine Corps; and Self Employed Appraiser, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville, TN.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at North Oxford Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Richardson Officiating.
Burial will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Sardis.
Visitation will be Monday, June 11, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Waller Funeral Home.
He was Born in Senatobia, MS.
Mr. Barnett was an avid Ole Miss Sports Fan and held Memberships in the Quarterback Club and the Tip-off Club.
He was also a Member of the North MS Realtors Association and North MS Builders Association.
A Colonel in the United State Marine Corps, he completed three tours in Vietnam and served in Dessert Storm.
He was proud to be a Marine, an American and to Humbly Serve his Country.
Outside of work, Mr. Barnett lived for his Family and aimed to lead them and others by setting a good example throughout his life.
He had a warm and outgoing personality and never met a stranger.
Survivors include his Wife, Jan Barnett of Collierville, TN (formerly of Oxford, MS); a Daughter, Beth Baggett of Oxford; two Sons, Charlie Barnett, Jr. of Covington, LA; and Louis Barnett of Miliani, HA; two Step Children, Michele Dane of Omaha, NE; and David Dane of Baltimore, MD; two Sisters, Nicky Barnett of Sardis, MS; and Mary Ann Arnold of Horn Lake, MS; one Brother, Glenn Barnett of Sardis, MS; and nine Grandchildren, Valerie Baggett, Josh Baggett, Trey Barnett, Paige Barnett, Jarek Barnett, Dylan Barnett, Jessica Barnett, Mackenzie Dane and Dylan Dane.
In Honor Of Col. Barnett's Service To His Country, The Flag Of The United States Marine Corps Will Be Flown At Waller Funeral Home.
