Miss Lillian Rose Ackridge, 89, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Friday, February 27, 2004, in Ocean Springs.
Miss Ackridge was born September 30, 1914 in Biloxi and spent most of her life there. She was retired from United Gas (Entex) Company after 45 years of employment in both the Biloxi and Gulfport offices. She served faithfully in her church, acting as secretary/treasurer and organist/pianist for many years before her retirement to Ocean Springs. She was also active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Amaranth, and the Biloxi Senior Citizen Center while living in Biloxi. She performed many volunteer services in her community, receiving recognition from the City of Biloxi for her many outstanding contributions to the quality of life in the community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Winifred Holley Mabee and Malcolm E. Ackridge.
Survivors include her sister, Inez Ackridge Galle, of Ocean Springs; her niece, Janice Pepper and her husband, Hugh; two nephews, Charles L. Galle and his wife, Martha, and Carl Wayne Galle and his wife, Sylvia. She will also be missed by her nine great nieces and nephews and ten great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 1, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi where friends may visit one hour before service time. Burial will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
