It is unclear how Jane took the Click surname, but they definitely are not biologically connected to the Washington, Greene, and Cocke Co. Tenn Click families. No matches were found to the Click DNA of Carolyn Whitaker. Benjamin Ford is not the father to them either.

They said my great great grandmother, Jane Click was married to older George Click. I told them that he was wrong. My oldest aunt Hattie Click Lunsford was 99 years old. She died in 1997. And when she was seventy five years old, she remembered her daddy, William Franklin Click, and her grandfather, William Henry Click, both had told her that William Henry Click's mother, Jane Click, was never married. She had four children. William Henry Click was my great grandfather. His father was Benjamin Jackson Ford. Mr. Moncier said my great great grandmother's full name was Mary Jane Click. I asked some of my relatives about her full name was. They only knew her by the name of Jane Click.
It is my guess Jane did marry at least once probably to Preston W Click, eldest son of George Lewis Click and Margaret Jones. They probably divorced as he married in 1854 then died in 1856. In the 1860 Cocke Co Tenn census Jane is living between Preston's brothers Thomas Jefferson and William Click. Since Cocke Co records were burned we will find no marriage and divorce papers. This is probably the reason she and her children took the Click surname.
There is a DNA Match to Hezekiah Bayless b 1830 d 1888 Atchison, Missouri, the son of Rev Reuben Bayless and Elizabeth Moore of Washington Co Tenn. Hezekiah married Abigail Reynolds 1851 Greene Co Tn, dtr of William Reynolds and Sarah Woolsey. Further matches to these families should reveal Jane's maiden name.
