JoBeth Byrd Abrams, 81, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at her home in Florence. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2 PM at College Drive Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pearl. The Pastor, Richie Halversen will officiate.

Ms. Abrams was a native of Beeville, TX and spent most of her life in Brookhaven, MS before moving to Florence where she has lived for many years. She was a graduate of Brookhaven High and attended MSCW, Ole Miss University and received a Masters Degree from Western State College in Gunnison, CO. She was one of 24 chosen across the country to participate in the Kellogg Institute in 1987 in conjunction with Appalachian State University in Boon, NC.

Ms. Abrams worked with the Division of Continuing Education of Jackson State University for the GED program. She went on to work at Copiah County School District, teaching English. After retiring, she substituted for the Rankin County and Pearl School Districts.

Ms. Abrams was preceded in death by her parents, Joe P. and Elizabeth Byrd; sister, Mary Virginia; brothers, Joseph Scott and Johnny Preston Byrd. She is survived by her son, Karl (Andrea) Abrams of Erlangen, Germany; daughters, Kelly Anne Abrams (Robert) Schaefer of Concord, CA and Angie Sullivan (Gary) Bowman of Florence, MS; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to College Drive Christian School. 110 College Drive, Pearl, MS 39208.
