William David Bellomy married Miss Mary Ann Talitha Ross on 11 November 1883 by Rev. G.W. Black at the Hunt Ranch in the Miller Bend Community. To this union, 10 children were born, nine survive.
Services for W.D. Bellomy, pioneer Young County resident who died at his home in the Proffitt community were officiated by Rev. M.F. Richardson of Eliasville, Rev. E.M. Agee of Wichita Falls and Rev. J.A. Bell of Newcastle. The Masonic Lodge of Newcastle conducted the rites of their fraternity.
Mr. Bellomy had been in ill health and for some time directed the affairs of his family and had ridden over the farm on horseback and make a trip to Newcastle. Upon his return home, he was stricken ill.
Mr. Bellomy brought his family to Young County in 1878 and settled in the Tonk Valley community.
Worked with his father, James Nelson Bellomy in the operation of the first ferry in Young County.
In 1903, W.D. Bellomy converted and united with the Baptist Church at Murray. He moved to Proffitt in 1904 and was a charter member of the Proffitt Baptist church. He was a leader in the church and community life until his death. The high esteem in which he was held by those who knew him was evidenced by the large crowd in attendance at his funeral.
