LT. COL. ROBERT H. ACKLEY, of Savannah, Ga. and formerly of Deerfield in upper Deerfield Township, died Monday in Georgia. He was a chaplain in the u.S. Army and retired in 1984 after 20 years of service at Ft. Hood, Texas. He was a veteran of the Vietnam and Korean conflicts. Mr. Ackley was a minister in the Presbyterian Church of America and a member of the Central Georgia Presbytery and the Independent Presbyterian church in Savannah. He was the director of the International Seamen's House in Savannah and a member of the Propeller Club and the Savannah Port Society. He was born in Deerfield. Surviving are his wife, Joan; one daughter, Susan A. Crosier of Houston, Texas; one sister, Lillian Ackley of Deerfield; three brothers, Donald B. of Deerfield, Rev. Allen Ackley of Ormond Beach, Fla. And Herbert M. of woodstown. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Deerfield Presbyterian Church, where friends may call from 10 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Donations may be made to the International Seamen's House, 25 Houston Street, Savannah 31401 or to the Philadelphia Theological Seminary, 4225 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia. Arrangements are by the Sray Funeral Home, Bridgeton. He served in the military in the US Army. He was a chaplain in the U.S. Army and retired in 1984
