Since my grandfather was a commercial fisherman and fished for tuna, he was gone from home a lot. Whenever he came back in to port in Eureka, he always seemed to bring some sort of "treat" for the family: cases of canned albacore tuna and these big tins of raspberry hard candies with soft centers are two things I distinctly remember and, of course, a visit from him. He was always very thoughtful sending money for birthdays and Christmas so we could buy those "extras" that our parents didn't have the money for. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Father of Gerald E. Abrahamson of Rohnerville; brother of Edgar J. Abrahamson of Eureka and Einar L. Abrahamson of Eureka. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Mary Jane, Janet and Dee Anne Abrahamson of Rohnerville, and a nephew Robert E. Abrahamson of San Jose.
A native of Samoa, California, Mr. Abrahamson lived most of his life in Humboldt County. He was a commercial fisherman until the time of his retirement several years ago. Age 66.
