Mrs. Draxie Dewease, 66, died of cancer Monday, September 12, 1994 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the First Baptist Church of Jackson with burial at 2:00 p.m. in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery near Noxapater, MS. Visitation was from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dewease was born in Carroll County and was a former resident of Jackson and a resident of Sandhill for the past twenty-two years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson. She was a retired Engineer Assistant with South Central Bell. She was a Patron at Mississippi State and was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America with South Central Bell.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Dewease of Sandhill, MS; one daughter, Debra Dewease Stone of Vicksburg, MS; two grandchildren, Reid Stone and Anna Stone, both of Vicksburg, MS; one sister, Juanita Jones of Escondido, CA; one brother, Gene Ferguson of Cerritos, CA.
Officiating minister was Dr. Frank Pollard. Pallbearers were Jerrold Dewease, Matthew Boyd, Andrew Boyd, H.O. Stewart, Dave Boyd, Phillip Boyd, Dr. Cecil Knox, and Max Ingram.
Honorary pallbearers were the Hope Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
