Marcus R. Bailey

Marcus R. Bailey, 71, of McCarley, a retired United States Forest Service employee, died of heart failure Monday, June 12, 1995, at Greenwood-Leflore Hospital/Greenwood. Mr. Bailey was a member of Anquilla Baptist Church, a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, and a Farm Bureau member.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Oliver Chapel with the Rev. Norris Corley officiating. Interment was in Coila Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha Mann Bailey; two daughters, Betty Diane Storms of Harriman, Tenn., Susan Renee Howard of McCarley: four sons, Jeffery Alan Bailey of Freeport, Texas, Danny Gray Johnson of Oxford, Donald R. Johnson of McAlester, Oklahoma; James E. Johnson of Winona; three sisters, Helen Browning of Vaiden, Barbara Beckwith of McCarley, Charlotte Scarberry of Pelahatchie; three brothers, Byron T. Bailey, Jr. of Jeffersonville, IN, M.C. Bailey of Newport News, VA, Robert L. Bailey of Athens, GA; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Robert Wayne Beckwith, Glen Scarberry, Jerry Shaw, David Tidwell, Carlton Minyard and Mark Peeples.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Fred M. Sandifer III, Dr. Kenneth Mines, Ralph Scruggs, Sonny Tidwell and Dr. Andrew M. Bailey Jr.

Oliver Funeral Home of Winona was in charge of arrangements.
