Katie Mary Ann Adams, 85, of Greeley, CO, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2007 at North Colorado Medical Center.Visitation is from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Westview Church of Christ. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2007 at Westview Church of Christ. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.Katie was born January 18, 1922 in Greeley to John and Adeline (Beer) Stewart. She was a faithful believer and a founding member of the Church of Christ in Greeley, now Westview Church of Christ, and at her death was the oldest, current and continuous member. She graduated from Greeley High in 1940, as did her mother in 1915 and her children. Katie married William "Bill" Adams on January 11, 1942 and when he died in 1988, they had celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage. She was always, first and foremost, a wife and mother. She created wonderful meals for her family and hand made most of their clothing. She delighted in preparing big meals and serving large family gatherings. Holidays were all very important to her.She loved to read, especially her Bible and other Christian books and taught her children a love for Jesus, and established a legacy of faith which in her was unwavering. Katie enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially on cruises and just two years ago, treated her family on a Caribbean cruise. She loved camping, boating, and fishing with her family over the years in her beloved Rocky Mountains and on many wonderful vacation trips around the country. The past 20 years volunteering was her passion. She received a presidential commendation from President George W. Bush including a Certificate and a pin for over 6000 hours of volunteer work. These hours were joyfully spent with organizations like Mended Hearts at the hospital, Wranglers for the Greeley Stampede, Union Colony Civic Center, Friends of the Museums at Centennial Village, and most recently as an interviewer for the Faith Community Service Fund and several others including her church work. Her plants and flowers, indoors and out, were very special to her and with her "green thumb" they flourished. In fact, last summer, with the help of her daughter, Billie Ann, she raised her final vegetable garden. She loved to crochet beautiful gifts for family and friends until her eyes would no longer allow it. She enjoyed her game shows such as Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and deal or No Deal. She also took a class in woodworking and with plans drawn up by her grandson, Alan, built by herself an entertainment center for her living room. Then she took a class at the Greeley Senior Center in rock polishing called "Rocks to Gems" where she made many beautiful jewelry gifts for her family and friends.Early mornings always found her reading her newspaper, doing the crossword puzzle with a cup of coffee before heading our for the days activities. She was a collector of many beautiful dolls from all over the world and a variety of Teddy Bears. She lived by the philosophy "don't put it off, do things while you still can."Katie is survived by her daughter, Billie Ann Adams; sons, Steven Henderson Adams, Thomas Edward Adams and fiancée, Joy Calland, and Douglas Bruce Adams and wife, Marion, all of Greeley; adopted children, Jerry Raehal and wife, Vickie, of Greeley and Robert and wife, May, of Taiwan; brothers, John R.
