Johann Friedrich Achziger was born in Kolb, Russia. He was the son of Johann Friedrich Achziger and Anna Elisabeth Streck. Fred married Catharina Pfenning 25 Nov 1892 in Kolb. She was the daughter of Nicholas Pfenning and Catharina Meier, also of Kolb. Catharina died in 1904 in Sebewaing, Michigan. Three children were born to this marriage while still living in Kolb: Jacob [1893-1894], Jacob, and Catharina Achziger.

Frederick married Anna Margaret Lesser 1905 in Sebewaing. Five children were born to this marriage: Emanuel, Howard Ray, Fred, Frieda, and Anna.

Following the death of Frederick, Anna Margaret remarried 13 Apr 1938 in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to Alexander Miller of Ritzville, Washington. They then made their home in Ritzville, where she died in 1949.
