She married Jack Allum on Oct. 21, 1941, and they lived on their ranch east of the entrance to Mesa Verde and in Cortez. She traveled in all states of the United States except North Dakota as well trips to Europe, Australia and the Mediterranean. Nellie enjoyed her family, working in her yard and playing cards with everyone. She is a 65-year survivor of thyroid cancer.
She was the last of her nine Matlock siblings and was also preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1988. She is survived by her daughter, Janelle Beaber (Jerry) from Boulder and her son John (Charlotte) from Ft. Collins, along with six grand children, eight great grand children and one great-great-grandson.
Cremation has taken place and a family graveside service will be held at a later day as she requested.
