Marjorie A. Bettis, of Cochise (Richland Ranchettes), died Jan. 13, 2006, at the age of 82. She was born on Jan. 11, 1924, in Luddingtonville, New York.
Marjorie was a homemaker, and was the granddaughter to John Austin who was full-blooded Native American of the 6th Nation Mohawk Tribe. Marjorie was a strong supporter of many Indian charities for over 30 years. She was also a member of the Vermont, New York and Pennsylvania Covered Bridge Societies, and was currently writing a book on covered bridges.
Survivors include her husband Rudolph of Richland Ranchettes and one son.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Irving and Issa (Dora) Austin.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m., at Westlawn Chapel; with visitation at 1 p.m. Burial followed in the Pearce Cemetery.
