"Milo L. Ballinger 1914-2004
Milo L. Ballinger, of Pearce-Sunsites, died Feb. 19, in Sierra Vista, at the age of 89.
He was born in Mead, Colo. on August 9, 1914, to William H. and Lena (Birkle) Ballinger.
Milo served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was honorably discharged in 1945 as a Chief Gunner's Mate.
He was retired from the Colorado Dept. of Transportation as a District Superintendent. He was a Golden Gloves boxer and was President of the Young Democrats.
Milo was a member of the Community Church of Sunsites, Life member of Willcox Elks Lodge 2131 in Willcox, Life member of VFW Post 2601 in Longmont, Colo. and P.E.R.A of Denver, Colo.
On August 30, 1942, in Nebraska, he married Margaret Louise Markham. They moved to Sunsites in 1990.
Survivors include his wife Margaret Louise of Sunsites, daughters Mileen (Lee) Kirkpatrick of Satellite Beach, Fla. and Janice (Cal) Pierce of Berryville, Va. and grandchildren Renee, Robin and Ronald Kirkpatrick.
Also surviving is his sister-in-law Ann Ballinger of Longmont, Colo., nephew Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Ballinger, Jr. and niece Cathy Winter both of Longmont, Colo. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and one sister.
Memorial services were held on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Community Church of Sunsites, with private cremation at Westlawn Crematorium.
