He was born in Scotland and died in Tyler,Texas. He married Sarah ?. 1834 He immigrated to the United States. He came to Tyler from North Carolina in the late 1840's was a veteran of the Mexican War. He was in the blacksmith business, first with William Stringfellow, later with his brother James Adams.
