She graduated from Rexroat High School near Wilson, Oklahoma, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central State University of Oklahoma in 1942 and a Masters degree in education from the University of Oklahoma in 1949. She retired from the Oklahoma City Public School System, teaching at Valley Brook and Wheeler grade schools for 22 years, and then taught in the state of Tennessee for a number of years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Russellville.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Judy Alexander of Russellville; four grandchildren: Jana Alexander Lara and husband, George, of Fort Myers, Florida, Brenda Alexander Moore and husband, Steve, of Wellston, Oklahoma, Kimberly Alexander Hart and husband, Chris, of West Fork, Arkansas, and Michael Alexander and wife, Debbie, of Collinsville, Oklahoma; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by Rev. Stephen Davis. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, by Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Ken Shores, Charles Baxley, Travis Arterbury, Ken New, Dennis Fleniken and George Townsend.
