George Washington Carmack married Sarah Ann Walsh on 22 July 1886 by Elder Russell, a Primitive Baptist minister. They settled one mile northwest of Murray in a log cabin and later in a frame house in 1891. They went to Oklahoma for a yaer but returned to Fish Creek by 1893.
George Washington Carmack professed faith in Jesus in 1888 joining the Fish Creek Baptist Church. He was baptized by Rev. G.W. Black. George Washington Carmack was ordained a deacon in 1891. From this time of his conversion until the day of his death, he was an active member of this church, helping all he could in carrying on the work of the church and Sunday School. On 9 July 1901, George Washington Carmack gave two acres of land from the southwest corner of his property on which the Fish Creek Baptist Church was built. In 1928, the name was changed to Murray Baptist Church and remained in that location until the church closed and the congregation was disbanded in 1970.
George Washington Carmack fell of a wagon while hauling hay and died after a few hours.
