Mrs. Vada Marie Adams was born on Friday, May 9, 1919, the daughter of W.F. and Banta Medzker Forbis. Mrs. Adams died on Sunday, March 14, 1999, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 79. She was born in Monette, Ark. and had lived in the Harrisburg area for the past 27 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Rotton and Leola Miles; one brother, John Forbis; one daughter, Beatrice Marie Adams and her parents.
She is survived by her husband Jessye T. Adams Sr. of the home; one son, Jessye Thomas Adams, Jr., and one daughter, Shirley Jean Parker; both of Harrisburg; five sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Barton of Trumann, Mrs. Vera Looney of Harrisburg, Mrs. Hazel Phillips of Jonesboro, Mrs. Rachel Harris of Memphis and Mrs. Mary Hale of Wynne; three brothers, Frank Forbis and Vernon Forbis both of Harrisburg and Denver Forbis of West Memphis, Ark.; 9 grand children and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann with Rev. Gerald Colvan officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery in Harrisburg, Ark. under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons; Chris Adams, Thomas Adams, Scott Batten, Jeff Pugh, Justin Batten and Blake Worthington.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home.
