Rites Are Held For Mrs. Alter, Pioneer
Alma, Neb. – Funeral services for Mrs. Joe Alter, 98, widow of a pioneer Alma lumber dealer, were held July 24, with Rev. Elby Boosinger, pastor of the Christian church in charge. Mrs. Alter passed away in Hastings where she had made her home for seven years.

The Alter family came to Alma in 1886 and took an active part in the development and building of the community. Mrs. Alter was active in the Christian church. She taught a Sunday school class for many years.

Mrs. Alter was preceded in death by her husband in 1932 and by a son in 1947. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Margaret D. Alter of Alma; three grandchildren, Mrs. Margery Alter Hunt of Lincoln; Joe E. Alter of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Nola Scott of Ogallala and seven great grand-children. She is also survived by one brother, Seldon Stevenson of Oneida, Kas. And two sisters, Mrs. Ada B. Mahan, of Alma and Mrs. Nellie Sadler of Falls City, Neb.
