Joseph Forrest Bedford, Sr., died March 12, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was buried in Elberta Cemetery March 16, at 1 p.m.
He was born January 8, 1905 in Dallas, Texas and later moved to Arkansas. His father, Ewing Bascom Bedford, was a printer married Delilah Ray. He had one sister and two brothers, now deceased.
Forrest bought his own farm in 1935 and met and married Dorothy Samples in 1937 and they raised five children on the mountain top farm in Leslie.
In 1954, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. After working for several nursuries, he stated his own landscaping business and gave continuous quality service for over 35 years.
He was the prime landscaper for the Tulsa Philharmonic Society for many years. He also had a long term association with the Tulsa Rose Garden.
He found great pleasure in fiddle and piano music, country music, square dancing, fireworks, and family gatherings, he loved traveling, boating, camping, lemon merrangue pie and Christmas gatherings.
He was survived by his five children; Virginia Dee Howard, Joseph Forrest Bedford, Jr., Chalen Bascom Bedford, Richard Lee Bedford, Clarence Dale Bedford, 11 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. (Kim Mays)
