Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice > Bay City Times, The (MI) - July 29, 2005 >Deceased Name: Christine A. Allsopp
Police are treating the death of a 54-year-old Frankenlust Township woman as suspicious. Michigan State Police investigators have identified the woman as Christine A. Allsopp, 54, of 2379 Bay Wood Court. Her body was found in her Bay Valley condominium Tuesday, and had to be identified through dental records because of advanced deterioration, police said. Investigators believe the woman had been dead for as long as two weeks prior to troopers finding her Tuesday afternoon. Neighbors had called to say they were worried about the woman. Officers couldn't get inside the condo and had to force open the door, said Detective Sgt. David Rivard, of the Bay City post. Police said there were no obvious signs of foul play. But Detective Sgt. Dan Rauschenberger said there were unusual circumstances and because of that, the death is being treated as suspicious. An autopsy was conducted on Wednesday at Bay Regional Medical Center, and there are no preliminary results, Rauschenberger said. Police are waiting for the results of toxicology and pathology tests, which could take two to three weeks, he said. Allsopp was the wife of Bay City attorney William W. Allsopp, according to an obituary. The couple was granted a "separate maintenance" in August 2004, according to court records, which is similar to a legal separation. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She was affectionately known as "The Card Lady," according to an obituary.
William Allsopp and other family members could not be reached for comment by The Times. He has worked as the attorney for the Bay City school board. Services for Christine Allsopp will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Arrangements are by the Gephart Funeral Home Inc., 201 W. Midland St.
