Master Sergeant David W. "Bill" Eltzroth, 86 of Coloma died Friday, February 27, 2009 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo.
A service with Masonic Rites will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where visitation will be Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in Fish Cemetery in Covert.
Bill was born December 20, 1922 in Covert to Morton and Freida (Derby) Eltzroth. Obtaining the rank of Master Sgt, he retired from the U.S. Air Force, serving during WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam Era. He was formerly employed by Lakeland Memorial Hospital, Menasha Corporation, and Rodewald Construction Co. Bill is an avid sportsman who loved golf, accomplishing three holes in one. He is also a member of the Coloma American Legion Post 362, Past Exalted Ruler of the Benton Harbor Elks #544 and a 60 year member of the Coloma Masonic Lodge #162.
Survivors include three sons; Graydon and Raymond Eltzroth of Coloma, and Jack Vernon Eltzroth; two daughters, Sally (Coy) Drane of Covert, and Mitzi Raymond of Hartford. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Lilian "Butch" in 1987, his parents, step father Graydon Pinyard, sister Mitzi Stephenson, a grandson Jason Patrick Williams, and a great grandson Vance Boomer Racine.
Burial with Military Honors will be in Fish Cemertery in Covert
