Lillian "Irene" N. Adams died at the age of 92, on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Heritage Inn after a lengthy illness.She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Vivian Newton; her husband, William L. Adams; two sisters, Audrey Pippin and Edna Hildebrand; and by a grandson, Eric Adams.She is survived by three children, Brenda Johnson and her husband, Don, Tanya Adams, and Michael Adams and his wife, Lisa; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.She is also survived by her sister, Mildred Dillard; a brother in law, Pete Hildebrand, a number of nieces and nephews; and by a very dear friend, Beverly Amato.
Mrs. Adams was a lifelong resident of Charlottesville. She was a graduate of Lane High School and worked for many years at Leggett Department Store (Belk) until her retirement to care for her husband during his illness.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church; while her children were growing up she taught Sunday school; she was a member of Kay Holden's Sunday school class and the Senior Adult Bible Study.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday June 22, 2015, at First Baptist Church, Park Street, with the Rev. Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
