Quentin Samuel Castle, Sr., age 87, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2006, with his wife, Nyrell Edwards Castle, at his side.

Born in Nickelsville, Virginia, Mr. Castle lived in Coeburn, Virginia for many years and was a resident of Church Hill since August of 1962. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.

He was an electrician at American Saint Gobain, retiring in 1985 after 23 years of service. He had previously worked with automatic phonographs and household appliance repair. He was known to his family and friends as a man who could fix anything.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Houston and Callie Frances Dean Castle, brothers, Walter Castle, Ernest Castle and M. H. Castle and sister, Rosa Mae Robinson.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nyrell Edwards Castle, his Coeburn High School sweetheart; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Bill Kiser, Fayetteville, NC; Anne and Jim Stokes, Sr., Hendersonville, NC; one son, Quentin (Skip) Castle, Jr., Lexington, KY; daughter-in-law, Connie Burke Castle, Lexington, KY; six grandchildren, Kim Abelson and husband, Mark, Greeneville, TN; Jim Stokes, Jr. and wife, Laura, Columbus, OH; Kelly Kiser and Scott Stokes, both of San Francisco, CA; Leigh-Anne Cumbee and husband, Mike, Hoover, AL; Brooke Russell and husband, Darrell, Gray, TN; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Velma Castle, Kingsport; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were conducted at the First Baptist Church, the Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiated. Graveside services were held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Coeburn, Virginia. Pallbearers were family and friends. Honorary bearers were members of the Men's #1 Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church. Johnson Funeral Home served the family.
