A funeral for Mary Michael Acker, 54, of Mount Crawford will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.
The service will be conducted by the Revs. Ron McCormick and Marvin Jones. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Acker died Monday at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident March 11 in Verona.
She was born May 15, 1934, in Augusta County and was the daughter of the late Julius Calvin and Iva Pumphrey Michael.
Mrs. Acker had lived at Bridgewater for 15 years before moving to the Mount Crawford community five years ago. She was a member of the St. Michael's United Church of Christ and was employed by Ethan-Allen Furniture.
On Aug. 1, 1952, she married James M. Acker, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Jerry W. Acker of Mount Solon, Michael J. Acker of Route 2, Bridgewater and Cynthia A. Sinhett of Route 1, Hinton; her stepmother, Ethel Shaver of Mount Sidney; four sisters, Jean Moyer of Bridgewater, Ruth Swink of Staunton, Edna Kiracofe of Churchville and Alma Gilbert of Elliston; five brothers, Lurty and Lester Michael, both of Verona, John Michael of Mount Sidney, Frank Michael of Weyers Cave and Robert Michael of Pennsylvania; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to either the Bridgewater or the Staunton-Augusta County Rescue Squad.
