Elizabeth Myers Acker, 87, of Route 1, Grottoes, died Sept. 23, 1990, at Camelot Hall Nursing Home in Harrisonburg, where she had lived for the past two years.
She was born Oct. 17, 1902, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late J.W.S. and Annie Miller Myers.
Mrs. Acker had lived in the Garbers Church community. She later lived in the Dayton and Montezuma areas before moving to Grottoes in 1945, where she lived before entering the nursing. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren of Weyers Cave. She was a former member of the Port Republic Home Demonstration Club.
On Dec. 30, 1925, she married Harold T. Acker, who survives. In addition to her husband, who lives at Camelot Hall Nursing Home, she is survived by six children, Harold T. Acker Jr. of Mount Crawford, Frieda A. Walker of Blacksburg, John W. Acker of Route 3, Waynesboro, James M. Acker of Route 1, Mount Crawford, Charles L. Acker of Grottoes and Robert D. Acker of Route 2, Elkton; two brothers, Daniel J. Myers of Bridgewater and Ralph Myers of Harrisonburg; three sisters, Myrtle Brown and Anna Mae Myers, both of Harrisonburg, and Tressie Myers of Richmond; 24 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Robert C. Bowman and Dr. Robert L. Sherfy will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
