Company I "Musgrove Volunteers", 3rd South Carolina Infantry, Kershaw's Brigade, McLaws' Division, 1st Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Residence Laurens District, SC.
Enlisted for the duration of the war on 11/24/1862 at Clinton, he was mustered into "I" Co. SC 3rd Infantry as a Private.
"Died in Camp near Fredericksburg, Va." of disease.
His father, James, represented by the law firm of Young, Simpson & Simpson of Laurens, SC., filed a Settlement Claim 2/29/1864; he was paid $61.80.

The 3rd South Carolina Infantry was organized on 2/6/1862; it was mustered out at Smithfield, NC. on 4/9/1865.
