Enlisted on 9/8/1861 at Camp Gary, Stafford County, VA., he was mustered into VA Stafford Light Artillery as a Private.
Absent, sick at home 3/1/1863; returned before 7/1864.
POW 4/2/1865 Petersburg, VA.; confined 4/14/1865 Point Lookout, MD.; Oath Allegiance and released 6/22/1865 Point Lookout, MD.

In 1903, his widow applied for Confederate pension on Feb 27, 1903; received $25.00 per year.
