NEWPORT NEWS - Hope Henderson Allard, 79, died on Feb. 6, 2003, after a short illness, at The Newport nursing home in Newport News.
Mrs. Allard was a longtime resident of Williamsburg, the beloved youngest daughter of Dr. Brantley and Maude Duke Henderson and she attended the Matthew Whaley School, the College of William and Mary and Mary Washington College. She served for many years as an X-Ray Technician both in Georgia and at Fort Eustis, Va. More recently she resided at the Great Oaks senior center in Newport News and her special interests were her family, health technology and British history.
Her husband was Robert Herman Allard of Williamsburg who served with the 82nd Airborne Army during World War II and was injured and decorated at Nijmegen, Holland. Mr. Allard died in 1961 from an accidental re-injury of his wartime wounds.
Mrs. Allard is survived by a sister, Mrs. Rosalind Henderson Westgate of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and a brother, Horace Edward Henderson of San Francisco, Calif.
Private arrangements have been made with the Peninsula Funeral Home of Newport News and she will be interred with her husband at the Cedar Grove Cemetery at Williamsburg.
