Johnny Atkinson, 60, husband of Diane White Atkinson and a resident of Painter, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 at his residence. A native of Painter, he was the son of the late W. Powell Atkinson and the late Eva Mae Bell Atkinson. He was a farmer, fisherman, and hunter. Other than his wife, Mr. Atkinson is survived by a daughter, Nicole A. Landon and her husband Steve of Painter; a son, John William "Will" Atkinson Jr. and his fiancee` Kerri Smith of Painter; a brother, Glen P. Atkinson and his wife Lee of Clarksboro, N.J.; an aunt, Louise Atkinson Bundick of Philadelphia, Pa.; an uncle, J. Glen Atkinson Jr. of Painter; and a granddaughter, Makenna Elizabeth Landon of Painter. He was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Atkinson. Funeral Services were conducted Sunday, Sept. 18, at 4 p.m. from the graveside of Belle Haven Cemetery with Pastor Tom Durrance, Pastor Michael Harrington, and Pastor Bob Smoot officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 316, Parksley, VA 23421 or to Shore Cancer Center, P.O. Box 17, Nassawadox, VA 23413.
