Jimmie Sherrill Cooper, 82, of Whittier, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Harris Regional Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at Olivet United Methodist Church. The Revs. Steve Phillippi and Mark Rogers officiated. Burial was in Sherrill Cemetery.
A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late George and Dora Queen Sherrill. She attended Olivet School, Qualla School and Sylva High School.
She was a lifelong member of Olivet United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, historian, treasurer and secretary. She was the primary author of the church history published in 2000 for the 100th anniversary celebration of the church.
For several years she and her husband owned and operated Cooper's Cash Grocery in Bryson City.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joe; and one brother, Frank.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Ralph Cooper; one daughter, Joyce Cooper of Whittier; and one sister, Pearle Reagan of Whittier.
