Herman Milton Blanton of Pringle passed from this life on Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Spearman. He was 87.

Herman was born on August 12, 1925 in El Reno, Oklahoma to Truman Blanton and Gertie Borsma Blanton. He grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from high school in Meridian, near Chickasha. On June 3, 1948, Herman married Leola Marie Hill at First Baptist Church, Morse, Texas. They celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Herman moved to Hutchinson County 69 years ago. He was a farmer and farmed his land for all of those 69 years. Herman was chosen as Outstanding Conservation Farmer in 1985 by Hutchinson County Soil Conservation Service. He served for a total of 24 years on the Pringle school board, then the Pringle-Morse school board. He was a charter member of the Morse Lion's Club. He enjoyed the outdoors – hunting, golfing, and fishing and delighted in his grandchildren.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Forrest Blanton.

He is survived by his wife, Leola, and four children: three daughters, Karon Swink and husband, Travis of Spearman, Pamela Yount of Prescott, Arizona, Patti Pogue and husband, Dan of Peck, Kansas, and a son, Michael Blanton and wife, Sharla of Pringle.

Herman was a beloved grandpa; he and Leola have ten grandchildren, Jason Swink of Lubbock, Lisa Vasbinder of Borger, Dallas Yount of Fort Collins, CO, Angela Trotter of Raleigh, NC, Melissa Lee of Phoenix, AZ, Matthew Pogue of Amarillo, Michelle Marshall of Belton, TX, Nathan Pogue of Peck, KS, Aaron Blanton and Emily Blanton, both of Pringle. They have eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Herman Blanton will be Monday, August 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Morse. Pastors Gary Stevens of First Baptist Church, Morse and Bo Graves, of First Baptist Church, Haysville, Kansas will officiate. Graveside will be at Lieb Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
