Aaron Brooks was born circa 1808 in Tennessee, reportedly the son of John Brooks. He was married circa 1834 to Martha Jane Forrester. Martha was born on 20 December 1819 in Tennessee.
In 1840, his family in Dade County, Georgia contained four individuals:

1 male under age 5 (Dennis?)
1 male aged 5 to under 10
1 male aged 20 to under 30 (Aaron)
1 female aged 15 to under 20 (Martha)

On 23 August 1850, Aaron and Martha and six children- Margaret, Ruth, William, Elizabeth, Jane, and John- lived in District 21 in Dade County, Georgia. Aaron worked as a farmer.

On 18 September 1860, the couple and six children- listed as W. L., M. E., J. F., Matilda, Peter, and Elisha- lived in Mountain, Pike County, Arkansas- the nearest post office named Star of the West. Aaron worked as a farmer. The family owned $200 in real estate and $60 in personal property.
Aaron and Martha were divorced between 1860 and 1870. Martha has not been located on the 1870 or 1880 censuses.

On 18 July 1870, Aaron lived by himself in Mountain township, the nearest post office being Red Land. He worked as a farmer and owned $100 in real estate and $150 in personal property.

Aaron was married second on 20 October 1873 in Howard County, Arkansas to Permelia Powell . Permelia was born circa 1852 in South Carolina. She had been previously married to a Mr. McClure

On 15 June 1880, Aaron and Permelia, her two children Mary and James McClure, and their two children David and Abba- all lived in Mountain township, Pike County, Arkansas. He worked as a farmer while she kept house.
Aaron died in 1880 in Mountain township, Pike County, Arkansas.

On 19 June 1900, Martha lived with her daughter Margaret (Brooks) Wade, John T. German, and James Davies in Township 8 of Choctaw Nation,, Indian Territory (Oklahoma).

Martha died on 3 April 1902 in Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, and is buried in the Greenhill Cemetery in Cameron, Le Flore County, Oklahoma.

Aaron and Martha (Forrester) Brooks were the parents of eleven children (seven died before 1900):

i. DENNIS BROOKS was born in 1835 in Tennessee.
ii. MARGARET JANE BROOKS was born in December 1837 in Tennessee.
iii. RUTH BROOKS was born circa 1839 in Georgia.
iv. WILLIAM FRANCIS BROOKS was born circa 1841 in Georgia.
v. ELIZABETH. MARY BROOKS was born circa 1843 in Georgia.
vi. ISAAC F. BROOKS was born circa 1846 in Georgia.
vii. JOHN FORRESTER BROOKS was born circa 1848 in Georgia.
viii. MATILDA BROOKS was born on 23 September 1852 in Georgia. She was married to John W. Wheelus.
ix. PETER WADELAND BROOKS was born circa 1854 in Georgia.
x. ELISHA BROOKS was born in November 1859 in Georgia.

Aaron and Permelia (Powell?) Brooks were the parents of two children:

i. DAVID M. BROOKS was born circa 1874 in Arkansas.
ii. ABBA E. BROOKS was born circa 1877 in Arkansas.
