SAN ANGELO Johnny Lee Adams, 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, while in a nursing home in Balch Springs. Visitation will be held all day Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, and Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens officiated by Lewis Burnett. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way. Johnny was born Jan. 17, 1949, in Durant, Okla., to Virgil and Alice (Davis) Adams. Johnny grew up in San Angelo and attended school at Central High School. He later married Becky Eckert and together they had two beautiful daughters. Johnny was a "Jack of all trades" and there was nothing that he couldn't do. He was a talented building contractor, mechanic and he even had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known as a prankster. He will be lovingly remembered for many of his pranks, from hiding snakes in secret places to startle people and for putting bubble bath in his friends' hot tubs. He loved a good laugh and wanted to make others laugh as well. In his spare time Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Johnny was a wonderful father, grandfather and a friend to all. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Tamela Lewis; and his brother, Ray Adams. Johnny is survived by his daughter, Amy Wolslager and husband Joe of San Angelo; his sister, Joyce Adams of San Angelo; granddaughter Zoie Allen of San Angelo; the mother of his children and friend, Becky Eckert; son-in-law Michael Lewis of West Virginia; nephew Leroy Adams of San Angelo; very special friends, Mike and Vickie Miller of Mesquite; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Johnny is also survived by his very special "furry little friend," Prissy.
