WAYNESVILLE - Billy Wayne Banks, 60, died Friday, Aug. 9,2002, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Born May 19, 1942, in Old Fort, he was the son of Dennis Banks of Black Mountain and the late Edna Wyatt Banks. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Walls. He was a self-employed carpenter and a veteran of the Army.

He is survived by his fiancee, Mary Messer of Clyde; four sons, Robert Wayne Banks, Ray Banks, Kenneth Banks and Ronnie Banks, all of Waynesville; a daughter, Becky Boyd of Leicester; two sisters, Gayle Rogers of Bethel and Frances Burress of Clyde; and 12 grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Revs. Zeb McDaris and Wayne Yarborough will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Maney, Scott Maney, Ben Hannah, A.C. Henson, Steve Bradley and Timothy Messer. Burial will be in Fullbright Cemetery.
