Deceased Name: James Clarence 'J.C.' Adams Jr.
MEBANE -- Mr. James Clarence "J.C." Adams Jr. of 702 Ashland Drive, Mebane, died at 3:32 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after months of declining health. He was a native of Granville County, was retired from AT&T after 43 years service as an industrial engineer and was a member and elder of the Mebane Gospel Chapel.
Mr. Adams was a proud U.S. Marine and served in the Pacific during World War II and was a chaplain and life member of the Lcpl. Alan D. Lam Det. #1209 Marine Corp League. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of American, a life member of the VFW, a Mason, a member of the American Legion and an honorary Kentucky colonel.
He is survived by daughter, Kathryn "Kay" Adams Lackey and special friend, Bo Carter, Snow Camp; son, James Clarence "Jay" Adams III and wife, Teal Moffett, Burlington; grandson, James Clarence Adams IV, Burlington; and special friend, Jean Hicks, Graham.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Hicks Adams; parents, James Clarence Adams Sr. and Bessie Rae Nicholson Adams; sister, Eunice "Beanie" Nicholson; and brother, Gilmer T. "Skip" Adams.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday September 9, 2007, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel, Mebane, with the Reverend Sam Taylor presiding.
Burial, with full military honors, will be at the Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the McClure Funeral Home, 1308 South Third Street, Mebane, NC 27302 Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the residence.
