BRUCE S. BENCHOFF, 74, of Rt. 5, died Sunday at the Waynesboro Hospital after a long illness.
Born at Charmian, he was the son of William and Mary Fitz Benchoff.
He worked as a self-employed painting and carpenter contractor. He was a veteran of World War II. serving with the Seabees. Prior to his retirement, six years ago, he operated the shooting gallery at carnivals for several years. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Zelma Hoffman Benchoff; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Marti of Harvey Cedars, N.Y., Mrs. Ruth Schull of Rt. 5 Waynesboro and Mrs. Dorothy Walters of Chambersburg.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro. The Rev. Claude H. Corl will officiate.
Burial will be in Fountaindale Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.
