Mary Cecelia Whitehead Ackerschott She was born September 22, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Died June 5, 2012. Preceded in death by her parents Bert and Julia Marie Whitehead of Dallas, Texas, husband Theo (Ted) Ackerschott, The Woodlands, Texas. She was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and Southern Methodist University, Dallas, where she received her BA degree in Art. Before settling in The Woodlands, she lived in Oklahoma City, Wichita Falls, Fort Worth ,Dallas, Houston, Willis and Galveston. After graduating from SMU she worked at Neiman Marcus, Dallas, as a window dresser then as assistant in the gift wrap design department. In 1952 she moved to Houston to become the gift wrap designer for Sakowitz Brothers. She met her husband Ted, an interior designer and they opened their own business called 'Two Designers" which ran for a successful 30 years. They traveled extensively in Europe on buying trips for their shop and one of their favorite vacations was Xian, China to see the Terracotta Army. They retired to Lake Conroe for a few years. Her artistic talent won several awards with the American Needlepoint Guild, a national organization which recognized her achievements with 3 ribbons for one work alone, First Place, Best in Show, and Judges favorite. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Margaret Montgomery Chapter of Conroe. At SMU she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.
