PATTON — BAKER – Nelson W. Sr., 62, Patton, passed away Sept. 14, 2013, at home. He was born Sept. 23, 1950, in Spangler, son of Walter and Dorothy (Maines) Baker. Preceded in death by his father, and son, Nelson W. Baker Jr. (Carnegie Hero Award recipient in 1998). In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Diane (Couturiaux) Baker, whom he married Aug. 16, 1969; son, Luke Seth, at home; and daughter, Melissa Reana, and fiance, Rick Ramsey, Patton; grandchildren, Nathan, Jenna Hannah Rose and Ricky Nelson; brothers, Kenneth (Phyllis), Cherry Tree, and Terry (Phyllis), Altoona; several nieces and nephews; and a special pet, Dixie. He was a 1968 graduate of Cambria Heights and worked for GTE Telephone Co. in Ott for 15 years. He attended Joyline Ministries and enjoyed boating, fishing, coin collecting, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was the 1981 and 1982 Arm-bender Champion in Ohio Arm Wrestling Competition. Friends will be received Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Main St., Patton, the Rev. Joyce Mitchell.
