John M. Abbott, 76, of 101 N. Prince St., Shippensburg, died at 3 a.m. today, Monday, December 18, 1995, at home.

Born Jan. 20, 1919, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late George and Margaret McElhinney Abbott.

He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg, and United Ostomy Association, Chapter 565 of Chambersburg.

Mr. Abbott was retired from the Beistle Co., Shippensburg. He also was a retired plumbing contractor.

He was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Franklin County Chapter.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Blair Abbott; a son, John B. of Boiling Springs; two brothers, George of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Harry of Philadelphia a niece and a nephew.

Burial will be Thursday in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
