Mary Arone, 93, of Homer City, Pa., died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at Indiana Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of Frank and Rose (Ecroli) Barbi. Mary was born March 17, 1917, in Ernest, Pa.

Mary was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, going shopping with her niece Sara, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by her daughter Rosemary A. and her husband, John Bertolino, of Homer City; three sons: James A. Arone and his wife, Patty, of Alamogordo, Samuel R. Arone and his wife, Betsy, of Homer City, and Frank Arone and his wife, Janet, of Homer City; nine grandchildren: Richard Arone, Rhonda Cross, Randy Arone, Tony Arone, Michael Arone, Nick Arone, Casey Arone, Noah Christian and Caleb Arone; and nine great-grandchildren: Lora, Layne, Cheyenne, Jaxson, Carson, Hannah, Jordan, Aidan, McKenzie and Isabella

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Frank Arone in 1963; three sisters: Dora Uvena, Vera Agnello and Alma Clements; and three brothers: Jim Barbi, Frank (Babe) Barbi and Fred Barbi

Friends will be received Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, from 3 to 9 p.m. at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home in Homer City, where a vigil for the deceased will be recited.

A blessing service will be held Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines Site, with the Rev. Fr. Terry Hercik officiating.

Interment to follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Ind.
