Cody Lee Baker, 25, of Hardinsburg died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, in Lansing, Mich.
He was born in Louisville, Ky., Sept. 15, 1987.
Cody was employed by Enprotech Industrial Technologies as an industrial maintenance mechanic, was an Army veteran of the Iraq campaign and a member of the Hardinsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5831. As a child, he was baptized at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church and later attended Payneville Baptist Church.
Cody could "light up a room" with his smile and strived to make the world a better place. He enjoyed working with veterans, riding his motorcycle and attending the local bike rally each year. According to his family and friends, "Cody liked anything with rubber tires and made a lot of noise." He will be deeply missed by so many.
Cody is survived by his wife, Laci Payne Baker of Hardinsburg; his parents, Karen and Chris Gayer of Tell City and Brian Baker of Louisville; his grandparents: Catherine Baker of Wamego, Kans., and Larry and Marilyn Hardin of Irvington, Ky.; two brothers, Brandon Baker (Amber) of Guston, Ky., and Tyler Baker (Josie) of Hardinsburg; his twin sister, Jennifer O'Reilly (James Hopper) of Harned, Ky.; two stepbrothers, Brant Gayer (Kristina) of Tell City and Todd Gayer (Jamie) of Bloomington; five nieces, Bayleigh and Taylor O'Reilly, Morgan, Grace and Sawyer Baker; one nephew, Sterling Hopper; several stepnieces and stepnephews; mother- and father-in-law, Pat and Philip Payne of McQuady, Ky., and two brothers-in-law, Lance and Sarah Payne and their son, Abel, and Logan Payne.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 24, at Emmanuel Fellowship Church. Brother Bryant Stevenson officiated. Burial with military honors was in the St. Romuald Cemetery near the veterans memorial.
Trent-Dowell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
