William Allen, Rochester Mines Resident, Dead
William Allen, one of the esteemed residents of this vicinity, passed away at his home on South Main street extension yesterday morning at 4:30 o'clock.
The deceased was born in Westershire, England, 1835, coming to this country in 1881. He settled in DuBois on March of the same year, and while here followed the occupation of mining. Mr. Allen was 81 years old when he died. He was an active man, and a member of Chivalric Lodge 475 Knights of Pythias, also a member of the K. of G. E. He has been a member of the K. of P. since 1889.
Besides his wife he leaves to survive him six children, three sons and three daughters as follows: Mrs. John Lindsay, DuBois; Mrs. E. A. Overdorf, Sabula; Mrs. Twila Meehan, Helvetia; Charles, Punxsutawney, William of Albany, and Alfred of DuBois.
Funeral services will be held at the home on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. B. L. Perry, of Mt. Zion M. E. church, will conduct the services, and interment will be made in the Rumbarger cemetery. The K. of P. will have charge of the services at the grave.
